Donna Eden's Energy Medicine

Energy Medicine as a form of Energy Therapy that I use in my GIET is that was developed by Donna Eden an American while Energy Psychology is presented  David Feinstein, PhD. Both founders are husband and wife who have come together to offer the world great insight into energy healing capabilities in their work Energy Psychology Interactive. Both teach the use of Energy healing principles to awaken the healing potentials in an individual through the application of meridian clearing and strengthening variety of body and emotional imbalances.

It is based on the discovery that every physical or emotional discomfort is cased by imbalance in the energy system of the body.

Donna wrote the book called energy Medicine which has set the stage for the practical study and manipulations of Energy Meridians. Donna has seen and worked with body energies right from childhood and says she was grateful that western medicine gave up on her as that put her on the path to self discovery on the energy healing road. David and Donna have worked with yet another guru in emotional health Gary Craig to present the book Possibilities of Energy Psychology. I have learnt and continue to learn from the couple who are major members of Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology, ACEP. Donna has these to say about energy medicine: "Energy is the foundation of physical and emotional health."

Energy medicine is both a complement to other approaches to medical care and a complete system for self-care and self-help. It can address physical illness and emotional or mental disorders, and can also promote high-level wellness and peak performance.

You heal the body by activating its natural healing energies; you also heal the body by restoring energies that have become weak, disturbed, or out of balance.

To accomplish this goal, energy medicine utilizes techniques from healing traditions such as acupuncture, yoga, kinesiology, and qi gong. Flow, balance, and harmony can be non-invasively restored and maintained within an energy system by tapping, massaging, pinching, twisting, or connecting specific energy points (acupoints) on the skin; by tracing or swirling the hand over the skin along specific energy pathways; through exercises or postures designed for specific energetic effects; by focused use of the mind to move specific energies; and/or by surrounding an area with healing energies (one person’s energies impacts another’s).

Use energy medicine to treat illness and relieve pain; stop the onset of illness as soon as it begins, stimulate immune function, relieve headaches, release stress, improve memory, enhance digestion, relieve arthritis, neck, shoulder, and low back pain, and cope with electromagnetic pollution.

By learning simple energy techniques to keep your energies balanced and humming, you can improve your health, sharpen your mind, and increase your joy and vitality.

WAYS ENERGY MEDICINE CAN HELP

Donna Eden says that there are TWO LEVELS where energy medicine might make a difference with a health condition:

  1. THE FIRST: has to do with getting your body's energies into a good flow, harmony, and balance. While not focusing on your health issue directly, this can create within your body an energetic environment that supports your overall health, vitality, and healing. This is the place to start, even if you are also taking additional steps, such as assessing and working with specific vulnerabilities in your energy system or consulting with an energy medicine specialist. Unlike treatments that offer pills or surgery, energy medicine focuses on the entire body as a system. Before doing more specific treatments, energy medicine practitioners routinely help people get their body's overall energies into a strong and healthy flow.

These are the methods an energy medicine practitioner might give to you after an initial consultation so that you can strengthen and balance your own energies.  There is much you can do for yourself through the Daily Energy Routine.  This is  proposed by Donna Eden which requires that you dedicate about 10 minutes each day to this. That is all that is necessary to begin to make a difference. Five minutes for the Daily Routine and five minutes to experiment with repeating some of the techniques and using additional methods.
  2. THE SECOND LEVEL involves an assessment of your body's energies and the ways they are related to the condition. Based on that assessment, individualized treatments can be designed to make your energy system more robust, specifically in the ways that will help with the health condition.

However, various resources mentioned below will give you an idea of where to begin. The book Energy Medicine by Donna Eden gives further instruction on how to assess your energies and correct problems. Meanwhile, everything you might do in terms of the Basic Daily Routine would support work with a professional energy medicine practitioner.

Since coming into Energy medicine practice, I have assisted many people to rev- up their energy level, boost vitality and stamina, strengthen immune system, relieve pains and aches, tension headaches, and sharpened memory.  I have applied energy testing to demonstrate the presence of Energy as part of the being of individuals and cleared meridian blockages to free clients from discomforts.

BENEFITS OF ENERGY MEDICINE
According to Donna, a healthy and vibrant body needs its energies to:

  • Move and have space to continue to move—energies may become blocked due to toxins, muscular or other constriction, prolonged stress, or interference from other energies.
  • Move in specific patterns—generally in harmony with the physical structures and functions that the energies animate and support. "Flow follows function."
  • Cross over—at all levels, from the micro level of the double helix of DNA, extending to the macro level where the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and the right side to the left.
  • Maintain a balance with other energies—the energies may lose their natural balance due to prolonged stress or other conditions that keep specific energy systems in a survival mode.
  • Energy Medicine provides for the Flow, balance, and harmony which is non-invasively restored and maintained within an energy system by: tapping, massaging, pinching, twisting, or connecting specific energy points on the skin, tracing or swirling the hand over the skin along specific energy pathways, exercises or postures designed for specific energetic effects, focused use of the mind to move specific energies surrounding an area with healing energies (one person’s energies impacts another’s).

SOME IMPORTANT ENERGY POINTS
There are some important Energy points that when stimulated in a specific pattern helps the body boost its energy. For the scope of this book, I will mention only the following:

  • The K27
  • The Thymus
  • The Spleen

These points on your body known as the 3-Thumps, when tapped with your fingers, will affect your nervous system in predictable ways, sending electrochemical impulses to targeted regions of your brain and releasing neurotransmitters. By tapping three specific sets of points, a sequence called the "Three Thumps", you can activate a series of internal responses that will help restore you when you are tired, increase your vitality, and keep your immune system stronger amidst stress. You can tap these points any time you need a boost.
Other ET excerise are: Cross Crawl, Wayne Cook Posture, Crown Pull, Zip-Up

CROSS CRAWL
Prior to beginning the cross crawl, tap your K-27 points to ensure that your energies are traveling in their natural direction. The cross crawl is as simple as marching in place (time—about a minute):

  1. While standing, lift your right arm and left leg simultaneously.
  2. As you let them down, raise your left arm and right leg. If you are unable to do this because, for instance, of a physical disability, simply lift your knees to the opposite elbows, or twist your upper torso so your arm passes over the midline of your body.
  3. Repeat, this time exaggerating the lift of your leg and the swing of your arm across the midline to the opposite side of your body.

Continue in this exaggerated march for at least a minute, again, breathing deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth.

WAYNE COOK METHOD
To do the Wayne Cook posture, sit in a chair with your spine straight

  1. Place your right foot over your left knee, wrap your left hand around your right ankle, and your right hand around the ball of your right foot (best done with shoes removed).
  2. Breathe in slowly through your nose, letting the breath lift your body while breathing in. At the same time, pull your leg inward, creating a stretch. Exhale slowly out your mouth, allowing your body to relax. Repeat this slow breathing and stretching four or five times.
  3. Switch to the other foot. Place your left foot over your right knee, wrap your right hand around your left ankle, and your left hand around the ball of the your foot. Use the same breathing.

Uncross your legs, place your fingertips together forming a pyramid, bring your thumbs to rest on your third eye, just above the bridge of your nose, and breathe slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth, about five times.

CROWN - PULL
While doing the crown pull, breathe deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth:
Place your thumbs at the side of your head on your temples. Curl your fingers and rest your fingertips just above the center of your eyebrows. Slowly, and with some pressure, pull your fingers apart so the skin just above your eyebrows is stretched.Rest your fingertips at the center of your forehead and repeat the stretch. Rest your fingertips at your hairline and repeat the stretch

THE ZIP UP/HOOK-UP

To Zip Up

  1. Briskly tap the K-27 points to assure that your meridians are moving in a forward direction.
  2. Place your hand at the bottom end of the central meridian, which is at your pubic bone .
  3. Take a deep in-breath as you simultaneously move your hand with deliberation straight up the center of your body, to your lower lip.
  4. Repeat three times.

This is the natural direction that the central meridian flows. By tracing it in this manner, you strengthen the meridian, and the meridian strengthens you. You can zip up the central meridian as often as you wish. Again, remember to breathe deeply as you do so, and you will begin to feel centered, in control, and in your own power. The energies of a healer’s hands emanate an electromagnetic force, and tracing your meridian with your hand moves the energy in the meridian.

One last technique, after the zip up, that helps lock in the gains from your routine is the 3rd Eye/Navel Hook-up.

HOOK-UP
Place the middle finger of one hand on the third eye (between the eyebrows above the bridge of the nose).

Place the middle finger of the other hand in the navel.
Gently press each finger into the skin, pull it upwards, and hold for about 12 seconds
